SPC Wall Panels: From Matte to High Glossy Finishes

What is SPC Wall Panel

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) wall panels are a new type of eco-friendly wall material made from stone powder, PVC resin, and stabilizers through high-temperature extrusion.

They feature waterproof, moisture-proof, wear-resistant, and easy-to-install properties, which is widely for bathroom paneling. The surface offers customizable designs with freely selectable patterns and can be finished with different treatments, including matte and high glossy.

Surface Treatment Options

(1) What is Matte

Matte is a surface finish with a low gloss level (around 5–8), without noticeable reflection. It presents a soft, understated visual effect, creating a calm and elegant atmosphere.

(2) What is High Glossy

High Glossy is a surface finish with a high gloss level (around 85–95), achieved through polishing or coating. It delivers a strong sheen and mirror-like reflective effect, making colors appear more vivid and the space more luxurious.

(3) Matte vs High Glossy Comparison

Comparison Point Matte High Glossy
Gloss Level No obvious reflection Strong mirror reflection
Visual Effect Soft, understated Bright, luxurious
Atmosphere Steady, cozy Transparent, spacious
Stain Resistance Good, fingerprints not obvious Poor, stains easily visible
Cleaning Difficulty Low High

How is High Glossy Made?

(1) Roller Coating High Glossy

Roller coating high glossy refers to applying a bright coating or paint onto the substrate surface through roller coating. By evenly coating and then curing or polishing, the surface achieves a high-gloss, mirror-like finish.

(2) Membrane Press High Glossy

Membrane press high glossy means covering the substrate surface with a high-gloss PVC/PET decorative film, then using heating and high-pressure vacuum suction to firmly bond the film to the substrate.

(3) Roller Coating vs Membrane Press High Glossy

Comparison Point Roller Coating High Glossy Membrane Press High Glossy
Process Principle Apply bright coating onto substrate with rollers, then cure/polish Apply high-gloss PVC/PET film, bond with heat & vacuum/high pressure
Surface Effect Natural, uniform gloss with good transparency Extremely high gloss, vivid color, strong visual impact
Wear Resistance Limited coating thickness, average scratch resistance Thicker film, better scratch and stain resistance
Durability May yellow or lose gloss over time Stable, not easy to discolor, highly durable
Eco-friendliness Uses coating, sometimes with solvents, less eco-friendly Mostly eco-friendly films, better environmental performance
Cost Mature technology, moderate cost Higher material cost, overall more expensive
Advantages Natural gloss, mature process, cost-effective Extremely high gloss, rich colors, highly durable
Disadvantages Prone to scratches, average stain resistance Higher cost, risk of warping under thermal expansion

How to Choose?

When choosing SPC wall panels, consider your budget, style, and usage needs:

  • If you prioritize practicality and cost-effectiveness, Matte or Roller Coating High Glossy is more suitable, offering a natural and soft look at an affordable price and easier cleaning.
  • If you want a more high-end effect, richer colors, and stronger durability and stain resistance, Membrane Press High Glossy is recommended, delivering greater visual impact and lasting quality.
